HC Deb 07 July 1909 vol 7 c1183
Mr. LONSDALE

asked whether, in the recent Fleet manœuvres, the White and Blue Fleets succeeded in evading the Red, or defending, Fleet and forming a junction; and whether he is prepared to state the conclusions which are drawn by the Admiralty from this result as bearing upon the preparedness of the Navy for war?

Mr. McKENNA

The manœuvres are confidential, and it is undesirable to make any statement as regards the results or the conclusions the Admiralty have come to.

Mr. PERCY BARLOW

Will my right hon. Friend supply to the hon. Member opposite a Return showing the number of breaksdown which have occurred during the recent manœuvres?

Mr. McKENNA

A Return will hardly be necessary, as I understand there has been only one accident in the 374 vessels engaged.
