HC Deb 02 December 1909 vol 13 cc539-40
Sir JOHN JARDINE

asked what is the nature of the arrangement lately made in Burma whereby religion may be taught in the State schools; whether any religion except the Christian religion is to be taught or whether those of the Buddhists, Mahomedans, and Hindus are eligible; and, as regards the Hindu religion, whether the dogmas of the Vedanta or the Sankhya school receive any preference?

The MASTER of ELIBANK

As stated in reply to a question on 2nd November, the Secretary of State has no information on this subject, and has not yet received a reply to an inquiry which, it was then stated, would be addressed to the Government of India.
