Captain CRAIGasked the Chief Secretary whether it is the intention of the Government to reintroduce the Afflicted Children (Ireland) Bill; and, if so, on what date?
§ Mr. CHERRYI can only refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary to a question asked by the hon. Member for South Belfast on 26th October last to the effect that he would be very glad to introduce 22 a Bill on the subject if he had any assurance that it would meet with general approval. It is obvious that no such legislation can be introduced this Session.
Captain CRAIGIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that this Bill is very much wanted in Ireland, and that it is approved of on all hands?
§ Mr. CHERRYI am well aware of that fact, and I deeply regret that it is impossible to make it a non-contentious measure.
