HC Deb 25 August 1909 vol 9 cc2090-1
Mr. SUMMER BELL

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is yet in a position to report as to the result of his negotiations with the Great Eastern Railway Company in regard to the proposed restrictions as to the carrying of blind passengers; and, if so, whether he can state the nature of same?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Churchill)

I am glad to be able to say that a satisfactory conclusion has been arrived at The railway company have withdrawn the instructions requiring blind passengers to provide a guide for their assistance at certain points, and have modified the form of contract so as only to absolve the company from liability for injury arising out of the passenger's defective vision.
