HC Deb 19 August 1909 vol 9 c1509
Mr. PATRICK WHITE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he was aware that the lands of Newrath, Kells, county Meath, are now in the market for sale; and if the Estates Commissioners would approach the owners with the view of purchasing the lands for the much-needed enlargement of small holdings in the neighbourhood?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners are not aware that the lands in question are now in the market. As I have already informed the hon. Member, in reply to a question asked by him on the 16th instant, the owners in the first instance proposed to sell these lands to the Commissioners, but subsequently withdrew them. The answer to the concluding portion of the question is in the negative.
