HC Deb 19 August 1909 vol 9 c1527
Mr. G. A. GIBBS (for Captain Morrison-Bell)

asked how many horses were required to complete the number necessary to place the field batteries first for service in the Aldershot command on a war footing during the recent mobilisation, and from which units were these horses drawn?

Mr. HALDANE

I have already explained to the House that the arrangements for the provision of horses on the occasion mentioned, which was not, I may repeat, a mobilisation, but, what is quite different, the raising of the strength of the division to a war footing, were made locally, and the details now required are not available at the War Office. Where the horses came from was totally irrelevant to the purpose for which the arrangements were made.
