HC Deb 11 August 1909 vol 9 cc393-4
Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary of State for War whether sufficient arms, equipment, and ammunition are available for 100,000 Territorial Reserve; and, if not, will he take immediate steps towards making any deficiency good in case of sudden need?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Haldane)

If the hon. and gallant Member will permit me, I would prefer to postpone the publication of information of the nature required until replies to the? circular letter on the Reserves have been received from the county associations, and detailed instructions have been framed.

Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman foreshadow that time?

Mr. HALDANE

No.

Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consider the desirability of obtaining information as to the number of men able and willing to join cyclist detachments, should occasion arise for their use in the Territorial Reserve?

Mr. HALDANE

The suggestion of the hon. and gallant Member will not be lost sight of.
