asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he?could give any information with regard to the accident on H.M.S. "Temeraire" on Saturday, 31st ultimo, at the Naval Review, and the condition of the sufferers; whether the accident was due to any defect in the gun; and whether similar mishaps were preventible in future?

The cause of the accident was that the gun, contrary to regulations, was not sponged and inspected after firing before the next charge was entered.
