HC Deb 09 August 1909 vol 9 cc3-4
Mr. BROOKE

asked the First Commissioner of Works, if, in view of the fact that the Central (Unemployed) Body, London, proposed to open the distress committee registers for men on 24th September, he could state what schemes of work suitable for the relief of the unemployed his office was likely to put into operation, and at what date they would begin?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Harcourt)

I am prepared with a considerable number of works available for the unemployed, and shall keep in touch with the Central Body, so that they can be commenced when necessary.
