§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThe duty charged on motor spirit at 3d. per gallon up to 30th June—the latest, date to which information is available—was approximately £45,000. No refund has yet been made pending the passing of the Finance Bill authorising the rebates.
§ Mr. FELLMay I ask if any application has been made for a refund, as the charge has been made under the Finance Bill?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThere has been no application, so far as I know. I may point out that the duty would be paid by one person, and that the rebate which it is demanded would be demanded by different people.
