Mr. STANLEY WILSONasked whether he can now say if it is the intention of the' Government to carry out the recommendations contained in a Report recently made to the Board of Trade by Captain G. C. Frederick, R.N., and Sir William Matthews, K.C.M.G., and referred to the Treasury by that Department, with regard to the protection of the navigable channel of the Humber and the communications with the Spurn?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEI regret that I am still unable to make any statement as to the course which I hoped might have been adopted by the Government in this matter.
Mr. STANLEY WILSONMay I ask whether the Board of Trade did not advise the carrying out of the recommendations of these gentlemen?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEYes, but it is one thing to get a report advising us to carry out the recommendations and another thing to carry them out.
Mr. STANLEY WILSONMay I ask whether the matter has not been hung up by the Treasury for four months?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEIf the hon. Member suggests that it has been hung up by the Treasury the suggestion is inaccurate. It has been delayed because of the difficulty of dealing with the question locally.
