Mr. T. F. RICHARDSasked the Secretary for War, if he would state the names of the contractors and their places of business who have been successful during 1909 in obtaining contracts for Army boots and shoes, with the number of pairs to be supplied by each during the present year?
§ Mr. HALDANEAs it has been decided that the names of successful competitors for Government contracts shall be published, subject to certain reservations, I can give the names of those who have obtained Army boot contracts during the current year, but, as they are too long to read out to the House, I will have them printed in the Votes and Proceedings. Particulars as to quantities and prices cannot, however, be given. [See Written Answers this date.]
§ Colonel LOCKWOODAre these boots machine-made or hand-made?
§ Mr. HALDANEIt really does not matter; they are the best we can get.
