HC Deb 07 April 1909 vol 3 c1162
Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

May I ask the Hon. Secretary for the Colonies whether he has received any information with regard to the disaster which has been reported from the New Hebrides?

Colonel SEELY

No. As soon as the hon. Gentleman brought under my notice the rumours of this great disaster I telegraphed to Fiji, which is the nearest telegraphic point to the New Hebrides. We had not received any reply up to a few minutes ago. I only hope that the rumours have been exaggerated.
