HC Deb 07 April 1909 vol 3 cc1152-3
Mr. MIDDLEMORE

asked whether, in the years 1905-6 to 1909-10, 49 British torpedo-boat destroyers have been provided for as compared with the German 54; and whether only four of the British total have been completed for sea as compared with the German total of 30?

Mr. McKENNA

The reply is in the affirmative. It should be added that for Great Britain during the period named 36 so-called coastal torpedo-boat destroyers—now termed first-class torpedo-boats—were also ordered, of which 30 have been delivered.
