HC Deb 01 April 1909 vol 3 c492
Captain CRAIG (for Mr. Lonsdale)

asked the Secretary for War whether he will state why, having regard to the fact that the work of the Royal Irish Fusiliers' depot at Armagh requires the services of one sergeant-major only, two sergeant-majors supernumerary have been attached to the depot in addition to the one on the establishment?

Mr. HALDANE

These warrant officers became supernumerary on the formation of the Special Reserve, and have consequently been attached to the depot of their regiment pending absorption or until otherwise disposed of. This course was considered to be the most expedient in the interests of the forces and of the individuals concerned.
