HC Deb 29 October 1908 vol 195 cc461-2
MR. HUNT (Shropshire, Ludlow)

To ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture whether, in view of the fact that the butchers have demanded a warranty after the 2nd of next month from British farmers as to the freedom from tubercular disease of all cattle sold by them, he will consider the advisability of introducing legislation to require butchers after the same date to give a guarantee that all beef sold by them as British shall be home-grown and home-fed.

(Answered by Sir Edward Strachey.) The President of the Board of Agriculture does not propose to introduce legislation in the direction suggested.
