JOHN BURNSThe amounts of loans sanctioned by the Local Government Board for purposes other than Poor Law purposes during the periods mentioned in the Question are given in the statement issued on Monday last. I am not, however, in a position to give the total amounts actually borrowed during these periods. The Returns on the subject from the local authorities are only made for the financial year ending in March, and, moreover, for the most part they have not yet come in.
