HC Deb 27 October 1908 vol 195 c89
MR. GINNELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if the attention of the Local Government Board for Ireland has been called to cases in which costs awarded to a district council by a competent Court have been received by the council's solicitor but not paid to the council's treasurer nor brought into the council's accounts, and in which no document has been put before the auditor to apprise him of the fact that costs have been awarded; and whether he will say what steps, if any, have been or will be taken by the Local Government Board with a view to protecting the ratepayers from loss in such circumstances.

MR. BIRRELL

The attention of the Local Government Board has not been called to any case of the kind referred to, but if any such case should be brought to their notice they will make full inquiries into the matter.
