HC Deb 27 October 1908 vol 195 cc64-5
MR. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made towards effecting a reduction in the cable rates to Barbados, Trinidad, and Demerara.

COLONEL SEELY

The Secretary of State regrets that he sees no immediate prospect of effecting a reduction in the cable rates to these Colonies.

MR. MITCHELL-THOMSON

Will the Secretary of State continue to use his best efforts to secure a reduction?

COLONEL SEELY

Reductions of cable rates are always to be desired, but the present is not an opportune moment for pressing this matter.
