To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he proposes to take any steps in the near future to try and conciliate the various interests of those engaged in the cotton industry and to end the lamentable position now prevailing.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) The course and consequence of this grave dispute have from its beginning been a subject of daily preoccupation to me, but I have at present no statement to make to Parliament upon it.
