HC Deb 20 October 1908 vol 194 c931
*SIR CHARLES W. DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether Papers can be presented showing the present attitude of the Government of Newfoundland towards the recently concluded modus vivendi in the fishery question with the United States.

COLONEL SEELY

There are no Papers which can conveniently be laid at present, but I am glad to inform my right hon. friend that the Government of Newfoundland have expressed much gratification at the conclusion of the modus vivendi, and the revocation of the Order in Council of 9th September, 1907, which the acceptance of the modus vivendi by that Government has rendered possible.
