To ask the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he can inform the House what answer was returned by the High Court of Calcutta to the communication it received from the Government of India bringing under its notice the representation of the Behar Planters Association, arising out of the murder of Mr. Bloomfield, that Criminal Appellate Courts, whose judgments are final, should invariably be composed of Judges who are thoroughly experienced and are well versed in the Indian criminal law.

(Answered by Mr. Buchanan.) The Secretary of State has no information as regards the correspondence referred to between the Government of India and the Calcutta High Court.
