HC Deb 12 October 1908 vol 194 c35
MR. BELLAIRS (Lynn Regis)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the Board has yet ascertained what rank and numbers of officers, together with the numbers of seamen and stokers, were on board H.M.S. "Whiting" at the time she was blown ashore at Hong-Kong; what position she occupied at anchor; and what is the complement of the vessel in full commission.

THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. MCKENNA,) Monmouthshire, N.

One lieutenant and one engineer-lieutenant were on board, together with three-fifths of full crew. The "Whiting" was at the time at Chung-Kwang-O for exercises.
