HC Deb 30 November 1908 vol 197 cc1076-7
MR. ROGERS (Wiltshire, Devizes)

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in the event of a local pensions committee deciding to grant a pension to a married woman whose husband is in receipt of poor law relief, the pension officer will be instructed to appeal.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

In such cases, as explained by my right hon. friend the President of the Local Government Board on the 26th instant, the wife will be disqualified only if relief is given to her direct, or to her husband for her on her account. In any case in which a married woman to whom a pension is granted appears to be subject to this disqualification, the pension officer will be instructed to appeal against the award.
