HC Deb 27 November 1908 vol 197 cc935-6
MR. O'SHAUGHNESSY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he can say what is the cause of delay in reinstating the evicted tenants on the estate of Lane Joynt at Aughanish, in the County of Limerick; and why will not the Estates Commissioners put into operation the compulsory provisions of the Evicted Tenants Act in this case.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners inform me that proceed- ings have been instituted for the sale to them of these lands under the provisions of the Irish Land Act, 1903. It would be contrary to the established practice to state the reasons which actuate the Commissioners in the exercise of their discretion.
