HC Deb 26 November 1908 vol 197 cc696-7
MR. JOYCE

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether a Distress Committee for the relief of the unemployed has been set up in Limerick; if so, what steps have been taken with a view to secure a grant; and whether any such grant has been made, and, if so, what is the amount.

MR. BIRRELL

An order has been issued by the Local Government Board enabling the corporation of Limerick to constitute a Distress Committee under the Unemployed Workmen Act. When the Committee is formed it will be open to it to apply for a grant from the unemployed fund, and the application when made will receive due consideration.
