HC Deb 25 November 1908 vol 197 cc373-4
MR. CLOUGH (Yorkshire, W.R., Skipton)

To ask the hon. Member for Crewe, as Church Estates Commissioner, whether he is aware that a few years ago a piece of land was purchased for the purpose of enlarging the churchyard attached to the parish church, Grindleton, near Clitheroe, for interment purposes; will he say whether the income from that piece of land has since been included by the Commissioners in the incumbent's stipend; whether it is now proposed to extend the churchyard by adding this piece of land thereto; and, if so, upon what financial and other conditions.

(Answered by Mr. Tomkinson.) The Ecclesiastical Commissioners have no information as to any arrangements which were made in reference to the extension of the churchyard at Grindleton stated to have, been carried out a few years ago, nor have they any knowledge as to the proposed extension of that churchyard now contemplated.
