§ MR. SLOANTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he has received from most of the boards of guardians and other public bodies in Ireland resolutions requesting that Section 3 (1) (a) of the Old-age Pensions Act, dealing with poor relief, be repealed; and whether, in view of the hardship this section inflicts upon the very poor, he can see his way to recommend the amendment of this section.
(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) I have received resolutions on the subject from a number of public bodies, and I am forwarding them to my right hon. friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
