HC Deb 23 November 1908 vol 196 c1762
MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he has received a petition from the owner of the estate of Penrose, Simla, which was purchased from the Rana of Koti in 1879, complaining that in the year 1900 the boundary of the estate was altered by Mr. A. Meredith, Deputy-Commissioner of Simla, without the usual notice to the Rana; and, seeing that a portion of the estate of which the present owner was deprived under the new boundary has been given to a Government clerk who owns the adjoining land, will he order an inquiry into the whole facts of the case with a view to the original boundary being restored.

(Answered by Mr. Buchanan.) The Memorial referred to has been received by the Secretary of State in Council, who, after full consideration, arrived at the decision that there was no reason to interfere with the Orders already passed.
