§ MR. LONSDALEI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the cattle driven off the lands of Michael Hogan, and for which he obtained a decree of £40 at the Ennis Quarter Sessions, have yet been recovered; and, if not, whether the persons who stole these beasts have been brought to justice.
§ MR. CHERRYI have nothing to add to the reply given by my right hon. friend the Chief Secretary to a Question on the same subject asked by the hon. Member on 29th October.
§ MR. LONSDALEIf any person is found who was engaged in stealing these cattle, will he be prosecuted?
§ MR. CHERRYOf course; if they are found.
§ MR. LONSDALEHave they not been found?
§ MR. CHERRYNot that I am aware of. They may have been found without my knowledge.
CAPTAIN CRAIGIs it the intention of the Executive to take any action against the leaders of the movement in favour of cattle-driving—whether they be Members of the House or not?
§ MR. CHERRYDoes the hon. Member seriously suggest that because cattle are stolen in Clare, I should take proceedings against a Member of this House?
§ MR. WILLIAM REDMONDOrder, order. I never stole a cow in my life.
§ MR. CHERRYThe hon. and gallant Gentleman does not appear to understand that this is a case of cattle-stealing—not cattle-driving.
