§ CAPTAIN CLIVE (Herefordshire, Ross)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War how many baths with hot and cold water are provided per 100 soldiers at Parkhurst Barracks, Isle of Wight.
§ MR. HALDANEThere are two baths for non-commissioned officers and eight for men giving approximately 2.22 per cent. for non-commissioned officers and per cent for men.
§ CAPTAIN CLIVEIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that the provision for soldiers in this respect is far worse than that in the adjoining convict prison?
§ MR. HALDANEThere is not the smallest analogy between the two cases. The soldiers are willing bathers. The arrangements were settled just before I came into office, and I am informed that they are in exact accordance with the regulations.
§ CAPTAIN CLIVEWill the conditions be improved?
§ MR. HALDANEI am not aware that that is required.
