KETTLE (Tyrone, E.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether it is the intention of the Commissioners of Intermediate Education in Ireland, having regard to the number of girls' schools which work under their supervision, to allot a due proportion of the new inspectorships to women.
§ MR. BIRRELLIt has been decided by the Commissioners of Intermediate Education that the first six inspectors to be appointed shall be men.
§ MR. KETTLEWill there women be any women inspectors appointed?
§ MR. BIRRELLThat is not a matter within my power, but I hope personally it will be possible to have women inspectors.
§ MR. KETTLEWill the right hon. Gentleman represent his personal views to the Intermediate Education Board? He has great personal influence.
§ MR. BIRRELLThe hon. Gentleman must allow me to estimate the force of my personality.
