HC Deb 13 November 1908 vol 196 c725
MR. RICHARDSON (Nottingham, S.)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that inconvenience is being caused and financial loss inflicted on the commercial community in Nottingham through the action of the North Eastern Railway Company refusing to expedite the delivery of goods from tradesmen in that city to customers north of York; that goods are often delayed at the depot of the North Eastern Railway Company at York from four to six days, and that when they are approached with a view to more expeditious delivery they decline to accede to such request; and will he take such action as will result in the removal of this grievance.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) I am in correspondence on this matter with the Nottingham Chamber of Commerce, and I have asked that body to furnish me with specific instances of delay which can be put before the railway company, with whom I propose to communicate.
