CAPTAIN FABER (Hampshire, Andover)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, looking at the increase of lunacy, he can see his way to recommending that a Bill should be brought in to prevent the marriages of those persons who have ever been confined in a lunatic asylum.
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. GLADSTONE) Leeds, W.No, Sir. It would be impossible to prohibit the marriage of all persons who have ever been confined in a lunatic asylum, because in many cases the mental trouble is of a limited and temporary nature. The recommendation on the subject in the Report of the Royal Commission on the Feebleminded will be considered.
§ MR. GLADSTONEasked for notice.
