HAROLD COXI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to an accident which occurred in the Walworth Road on Wednesday last, when a motor omnibus collided 1697 with a ladder killing one man and seriously injuring two others; and what steps he proposes to take for the better protection of the people of London against these dangerous vehicles.
§ *MR. GLADSTONEIt appears that the death and the injuries resulted from the overthrow of a ladder, caused by the omnibus; an inquest will be held to-day. I fear that no steps can be taken which would remove the risk of the occurrence of an accident of this nature.
