HC Deb 09 November 1908 vol 195 c1668
MR. WILES (Islington, S.)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether there is an official regulation for the Metropolitan Police Force that every constable shall present his rent-book each month for inspection by the station officer; and, if so, whether he can state if this regulation is enforced in each division.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Gladstone). An allowance in aid of rent is given to constables in the Metropolitan Police Force, and it is necessary for them to present their rent-books for inspection in order to show that the conditions on which the allowance is given are observed.
