HC Deb 04 November 1908 vol 195 c1224
MR. W. THORNE

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if his attention has been called to the verdict returned at an inquest at Preston, on William Walsh, aged forty-six, a weaver of Blackburn, who died in the mission shelter on Tuesday, 20th October; and, in consequence of the deceased telling his fellow inmates that he had walked from Clitheroe, where he had had nothing but dry bread and water in the casual ward for several days, and in consequence of the man's death being accelerated by starvation and exposure, will he cause inquiries to be made into the case.

MR. JOHN BURNS

I have written for the depositions taken at the inquest in this case. On receiving them I will look into the matter.
