EARL OF RONALDSHAYI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade what was the amount of elastic tissues 985 sent from Great Britain to France in 1907 and from France to Great Britain in the same year; and what was the rate of duty levied on the British-made fabrics by France and on the French fabrics by Great Britain.

CHURCHILLParticulars of the exports of elastic tissues from this country are not separately recorded in British Official Trade Accounts, but, according to the French official Returns, 47,466 kilograms (8,718 cwts) of elastic tissues, valued at 711,990 francs. (£28,450 were imported into France from the United Kingdom during the year 1907. The exports of elastic tissues of French manufacture from France to the United Kingdom in 1907 amounted, according to the same. Returns, to 51,510 kilograms (1,014 cwts.), valued at 875,670 francs. (£35,027). The import duty levied in France on elastic tissues of British manufacture is at the rate of 200 francs per 100 kilograms (£4 1s. 4d. per cwt.). No import duty on elastic tissues is levied in this country.
