HC Deb 02 November 1908 vol 195 c743
MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

To ask the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that a number of assistant clerks (now class) in the Board's service are, at the age of twenty-one, in receipt of less than 23s. per week; whether several assistant clerks of over nine years service, about the age of twenty-eight years, are in receipt of £86 or less per annum; and whether the Board will make representations to the Treasury with a view of increasing those salaries.

(Answered by Mr. Runciman.) The Answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. I do not think it would be expedient or in accordance with practice to give information as to communications which are, or may be, made to the Treasury on such matters.
