HC Deb 02 November 1908 vol 195 cc751-2
MR. J. P. FARRELL (Longford, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state whether any agreements to purchase their farms at Killasormagh, North Longford, from the representatives of the late Richard Davoren, have been lodged on behalf of the tenants with the Estates Commissioners; if so, what is the cause of the delay in having this estate inspected as promised; whether any offer has been made under the sixth section for the purchase of the untenanted portion, a promise to divide which was given to the tenants when signing their agreements; and, if nothing has yet been done, will an inspection be now ordered.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) No purchase agreements have been lodged with the Estates Commissioners in this case. The estate is pending for sale to the Commissioners under Section 6 of the Irish Land Act, 1903. It has been inspected, and the Estate Commissioners expect to be in a position to make an offer at an early date.
