To ask the Postmaster-General whether he can state the total number of depositors in the Post Office Savings Bank, and the total number of deposit books forwarded to the head office for inspection, during the last financial year for which this information is available.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) On 31st December, 1906, the number of accounts remaining open in the Post Office Savings Bank was 10,332,784; and the total number of deposit books forwarded to the head office for inspection during the year 1906, was 7,632,903. The figures for 1907 are not yet proved.
