HC Deb 28 May 1908 vol 189 c1261
MR. CATHCART WASON

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will consider whether it would be desirable after the recent occurrences at Nairobi to dissolve the Legislative Council of East Africa until such time as there are a greater number of actual white settlers in the country.

COLONEL SEELY

The Secretary of State sees no reason to take the step which my hon. friend suggests: the members of the Council are not elected by the white settlers but are appointed by the Crown.
