HC Deb 27 May 1908 vol 189 cc1097-8
MR. JOYNSON-HICKS (Manchester, N.W.)

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether, in the event of the Port of London Bill passing into law this session, giving powers for the erection of receiving homes for alien immigrants at the port of London, he will introduce a short Bill to confer similar powers as regards receiving homes upon other port authorities in the United Kingdom.

MR. GLADSTONE

I beg to answer this Question on behalf of my right hon. friend. I can only repeat the Answer which I gave to the hon. Member for Darlington on the 6th of this month, that the circumstances which have rendered necessary a special statutory enactment in this matter as regards the port of London are peculiar to that port, and have not arisen elsewhere.
