HC Deb 27 May 1908 vol 189 cc1066-7
MR. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

To ask the Postmaster-General when the recommendations of the Select Committee, so far as they affect the class of senior postmen and lobby officers, will come into operation; and whether the officers entitled to an increased scale of pay will receive it as from 1st January last, as has been done in the case of other classes.

MR. PICKERSGILL

To ask the Postmaster-General whether he proposes to place all the officers appointed as senior postmen and lobby officers in the new class of head postmen, having regard to the fact that they have always been acknowledged as one class by the Department; and, if not, will he say what will be the method of selection.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) It will be convenient to answer these two Questions together. The case of the senior postmen and lobby officers is now engaging my attention, and I hope to be in a position shortly to announce a decision. Any increase in the scale of pay will, of course, take effect from 1st January last.
