HC Deb 25 May 1908 vol 189 c726
MR. HAROLD COX (Preston)

To ask the Secretary of State for War if he can state of what categories of men the total war strength of the British forces, namely, 1,066,000, consists, distinguishing Regulars, Reserves, Territorials, and native forces, and what proportion of the total cost of £49,000,000 is to be allotted to each category; and if he can in the same way state what categories of men make up the total war strength of the German Army, namely, 7,110,000, and what proportion of the total cost of £51,000,000 is assignable to each category.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The calculations which would be involved by my hon. friend's Question would be difficult to make for the British forces, and still more difficult with regard to the German; but if the hon. Member will explain to me privately the purpose of his inquiries I will see what I can do.
