To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state the total number of persons in Ireland now under rules of bail under the Statute of Edw. III., or under the power of Justices Commissioners, for complicity in cattle raids or other disturbances arising from agrarian causes; and whether proceedings have been taken in any case to escheat recognisances, and with what result.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The number of persons in Ireland now under bail to keep the peace for the causes mentioned in the Question is 921. Recognisances have been estreated in three of the cases, and proceedings are pending in a fourth case.
