HC Deb 25 May 1908 vol 189 cc744-5
* SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the figures for annual expenditure of the British Empire on land forces placed before the House on 14th May includes, in the amount of £49,000,000 set down for British land forces, the cost of forces having an organisation in troops or battalions or gun detachments paid for from Civil Service Estimates or from Colonial funds as stated to the House in former years.

MR. HALDANE

The figure of £49,000,000 includes the expenditure from Colonial Office Votes on Protectorate Forces; but not the expenditure from the funds of the Colonies.
