HC Deb 19 May 1908 vol 189 c84
MR. HAZLETON

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state the reason why provision has been made in the Estimates for 1908–9 for the appointment of an additional auditor under the Local Government Board for Ireland, in view of the fact that no decision to appoint an additional auditor has been arrived at.

MR. BIRRELL

I find that I was mistaken in supposing that power is being taken in this year's Estimates to appoint another auditor. The additional auditor for whom provision is made in the Estimates was appointed in April 1907, after the Estimates for the past financial year had been presented.

MR. MOONEY (Newry)

What is his name?

MR. BIRRELL

I will tell the hon. Member personally.
