HC Deb 19 May 1908 vol 189 c60
Mr. REMNANT (Finsbury, Holborn)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is now able to lay upon the Table the information promised by the Secretary of State on 7th March, 1907, regarding import duties in certain foreign countries on Indian goods.

(Answered by Mr. Buchanan.) The Secretary of State has received from the Government of India a revised edition of the Return appended to their fiscal despatch of 22nd October, 1902, showing the approximate percentages of import duties levied in various countries on the principal articles exported from India. It will be laid upon the Table if the hon. Member will move for it. I would, however, remark that the Government of India have expressed a doubt as to the accuracy of the figures entered in it, though they have been compiled with all the care from the figures at their command.
