HC Deb 18 May 1908 vol 188 cc1596-7
MR. GILHOOLY (Cork County, W.)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been called to the inconvenient postal arrangements in Castle-town Berehaven; and, in view of the importance of that town as a naval base and fishery station, will he take immediate steps to have a better postal service.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) I have recently made full inquiry into the question of improving the postal service to Castletown Berehaven, but I regret to find that the cost of an improved service, which would have to be either by steamer or motor van from Bantry, would be larger than could be justified the existing service being carried on at a considerable loss.
